Math- This week the students will be reviewing what they have learned about fractions. Each student group will be creating a fraction board game. We will be playing our board games on Wednesday.
Reading- This week the students will be starting our research unit. We will be reading about all of the monuments and memorials that we will be visiting in Washington DC. The students will be creating a flip book about each of these monuments and memorials.
We will also be reading about The Korean Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Martin Luther King Jr., and John F. Kennedy.
Writing- The students will be working on a small persuasive essay on Monday and Tuesday. This will also be homework on Monday night and Tuesday night. Students will be trying to convince the class that they should lay the wreath (on behalf of PUE) at the WW2 Memorial. Two students from our class will be selected on Wednesday. Every student will write an essay, but students have the option as to whether or not they would like their essay read in the contest. This is a very important event, but it is informal. The two students who win the contest do not have to dress up in order to lay the wreath.
Science/Social Studies- We will be going over the science Case 21 test on Monday.
On Tuesday we will be watching a special video about Arlington National Cemetery.
